Metrolinx has completed improvements to the Square One Bus Terminal that will make it easier for customers to take GO Transit.
The upgraded terminal now features a new station building to better serve customers and meet growing demand. The building includes three GO service windows, accessible public washrooms and a climate-controlled waiting area. Other improvements to the terminal include:
Ontario is making the largest investment in public infrastructure in the province’s history — about $160 billion over 12 years, which is supporting 110,000 jobs every year across the province, with projects such as roads, bridges, transit systems, schools and hospitals. In 2015, the province announced support for more than 325 projects that will keep people and goods moving, connect communities and improve quality of life.
Improving GO Transit is part of the government’s economic plan to build Ontario up and deliver on its number-one priority to grow the economy and create jobs. The four-part plan includes investing in talent and skills, including helping more people get and create the jobs of the future by expanding access to high-quality college and university education. The plan is making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario’s history and investing in a low-carbon economy driven by innovative, high-growth, export-oriented businesses. The plan is also helping working Ontarians achieve a more secure retirement.
“The Square One Bus Terminal is one of the busiest bus terminals in the GO Transit system. These improvements will make taking transit an easier option for Mississauga residents and commuters. Our commitment to expanding and improving transit helps manage congestion, connect people to jobs and improve our economy.” (TBC)
— Steven Del Duca, Minister of Transportation
“I am pleased that the much needed GO Bus Terminal is now open. It means that those of us who take the GO Bus from Square One now have a heated place to wait in during the winter and a cool place in the summer. A safe place to wait, buy tickets and customer service attendants.”
— Dipika Damerla, MPP for Mississauga East – Cooksville
“We know the Square One Bus Terminal is a very important link in our GO system. These improvements will help us provide the best possible customer experience to the tens of thousands of customers who pass through here every day.”
— Bruce McCuaig, President and CEO, Metrolinx
“These important upgrades to the Square One Bus Terminal will improve commuter travel for workers, students, visitors and residents who rely on the second busiest terminal in the GO Bus network," Mayor Crombie said. "I applaud Minister Del Duca, the Wynne government and Metrolinx for their commitment to ensure Ontario's third largest city, Mississauga, receives important infrastructure investments and is at the heart of a plan to build an extensive regionally-integrated transit network that gets people moving and grows our economy."
— Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of Mississauga
